Strikes & Gutters

Strikes and gutters...It applies to my most recent geographic and personal shift in life, and does so both literally and figuratively. Ups and downs, what not...and, ya know....my posse loves to bowl.
I'm still adjusting from my midwest to the city of angels relocation and a significant aspect of that adjustment is.... contemplating my professional advancement. My experiences have been diverse and choosing an avenue of which to continue diversifying those experiences has been a struggle for me.  I'm optimistic, and realize this pursuit has been most certainly reflective of my devotion to doing something about it.
I miss Chicago. The accessibility of the city, the mid west blue collar mind set, the amazing organization I  worked for, the relationships I developed and the comfortable niche I had built for myself. Granted, it was my own feelings of falling into a comfortable routine that contributed to my move, but I cannot help but reflect on the whole era quite fondly.
As I know I will this new era. The appreciation I have for my support circle here is endless. Along with my family, who I've spent more time with over the last 7 months then I have in 10 years, I am surrounded by those I love the most....and know have love for The PIZ. They "show me love" every day, and I'm not talkin about the lame glitter graphic one posts on MySpace comments sections. I cannot describe the realm of assistance they've provided, as well as the encouragement to pursue this new journey at my own pace.
Which brings me to PIZ NATION. I'm surrounded by insightful, compassionate, and truely entertaining individuals...well, at least we think of ourselves that way...but I think you will too. I've decided that my pace needs to include this outlet to create, share and laugh. What to expect for the future of PIZ NATION? It all depends on how soon I start throwing strikes I suppose. However, in the meantime, just getting out on the lanes enjoying a few good laughs with the people I enjoy most makes the game worth playing. So, there's been a few gutters thrown. I need to stop complainin' about lane conditions... work on my control, move a few boards over, keep my focus straight ahead and just roll with it.

Vice President Afterthought

If Hillary is elected president, I'm pretty sure the vice president - whoever it is - is going to be a complete afterthought in the administration.

You think Bill is going to settle for being number 3?  I mean Hillary's gonna have trouble hanging on to the number 1 spot as it is with Bill around.  She'll maintain only because her name will be on the actual door.  But don't get it twisted, in Bill's brain this will be Hillary's first term, his third.

So yeah, he'll except that she's president but there's no way in hell Bill's going to let some idiot V.P. see more of the action than him.

Bill: Look pal, I was getting blowjobs in this office while you were still popping zits, okay?  I'll handle this.  Go invent the internet or something.

I have visions of Air Force One taking off as the forgotten vice president runs down the tarmac after them.  You guys! You forgot me again!  Hello?!!

Air Force One Flight Attendant: Um excuse me Madam President but it seems we've taken off without the vice president again.

Hillary: No we didn't, Bill's right here.  Bill wake up...

Attendant: No Madam. The actual vice president.

Hillary: Ohhhhhhhhh...right.  Well. Hmm...what should we do?  You know what? Forget it, let's just go.  Okay?  We'll just keep going.  Oh and stewardess...

Attendant: Flight attendant.

Hillary: Uh huh, anyway can I use your cellphone?  I'll just call'em. ... ... ... Got his voicemail.  ..Hey vicey, it's Hill.  Look Bill was out late last night. So was I.  Both of us got completely shitfaced...ANYwayz we just barely made the flight this morning and we're real sorry we took off without you again.  Okay? Aye yi yi, so stupid right? ANYwayz, tell you what, why don't you stay in the White House this weekend, okay? There's food in the fridge, you can bring your laundry over, Bill just got some new porn, you know, make yourself at home and we'll be back on Tuesday.  Sound good? Oh and don't delete any of the Gossip Girls on Tivo, we're not caught up.  Well Bill is but I'm not. Okay T.M.I. right?!  Hahahaha!!!!  ANYwayz, byeeee! Kisses!!  X! X! X! X!

He'll be fine.

Practical Demonkeeping

By: Christopher Moore

        Review by:
          DEE

A people-eating demon, Djinn, and a Bait, Tackle and Fine Wines Shop, is just a short list of the bit of randomness that runs throughout this debut novel of Christopher Moore.
Practical Demonkeeping is an extremely funny and twisted tale about a small town, Pine Cove which is terrorized by a demon cleverly called Catch. Moore does a hilarious job of telling this tale using the story of King Solomon, which the Djinn refer to King Solomon as a thief. What is a Djinn? They are the first creatures of the world before the humans and the only ones with a power desired by both Jehovah and Satan.

This clever fiction is made up of several accounts which come from certain key townies and are nicely tied in together to make up this witty novel. I highly recommend this book because I was able to laugh out loud at the perfectly timed euphemizes and I also was able to see a comical side to carnage, which rarely happens.

Christopher Moore has written over a dozen books about the most abnormal and average people and places. He definitely has a flair for telling stories about the most haphazard, romantic and funny state of affairs.

Mix Tape Must

I'm rarely hip to the happenin’ tracks that all the kids are listening to, but here’s my selection for your Mix Tape Must

  Sad Clown Bad Winter

Atmosphere: The seasonal collection of Sad Clown Bad Summer, Fall and Winter. And the free downloadable tracks, Strictly Leakage

Atmosphere (Minneapolis' own Slug and Ant) has put out 3 EP's since this summer and a 13 track free online album as a thank you for the fans. I'm still amidst  listening to this vast assemblage of descriptive story telling lyrics set to creative, unique bangin' beats...
which is why I asked the vZa to contribute his insight. I quote
vZa in explaining why this task is yet to be completed. "I do deadlines for work dude...not life."
vZa, come on bro...the Nation awaits!
(Will vZa come thru or will he hoard his extensive music knowledge...stay tuned to PIZNATION to find out)

These kids make shopping fun and eco friendly

Soul Flower began in 1999 as a boutique specializing in phunky clothing, great gifts, jam band goods, tie-dye clothing, organic cotton goods, hemp bags, hemp jewelry and hemp body products. As a company, we support efforts to create environmentally friendly products and clothing. We try to be as eco-friendly in our own practices as we are in selecting our products.

Soul-Flower Love
The kids are crazy for Soul-Flower and by kids I mean the vZa. I think he now posseses like 10 Soul-Flower shirts and he's made purchases for family as well. Needless to say, he's pleased with the product. So is anyone else I know that's invested in their goods. I could go on about the enviromental friendliness of their product and overall business sense, but it's all on their site.  I'm not only an affiliate but a customer as well...

Educator's Easel

Painting a picture of life in the classroom

I am fortunate to have several impactual educators in my life, and I always benefit from the insight they have to share. However, since they're busy molding impressionable minds, crankin' out stories for PIZ NATION will have to occur on their terms. Unlike the vZa, I've received enthusiastic willingness to contribute, so I am looking forward to sharing their observations and musings soon.

Journey continues in Los Angeles.
I've joined forces with my closest

lived in the same city. I consider
us a fairly dynamic group, with
unlimited positive energy, and a slight sardonic twist. With that combination we are never short on good times to share.
Let the next adventure begin!
